"There’s always that one moment that someone touches your heart so beautifully that you say thanks for giving me the opportunity to do this," said Rotarian Lynn-Del.
Donald Coker, who organized our 34th annual dinner with Lynn-Del, said feeding 125 people at the church and making another 125 to-go meals is a three-day process. But Coker said the event always runs smoothly thanks to the many people who assist him.
"We have more volunteers than we could ever hope to have," he said, noting that 12 Rotarians brought a dozen 25-pound turkeys that they cooked at home.
The food was donated by Portsmouth Regional Hospital, which also allowed volunteers use its kitchen. Since the hospital needed to prepare breakfast for its own cafeteria, the only available time was 2am.
