William M. Cash passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2001 at the age of 84.

Born November 7, 1916 in Portsmouth, he was the son of John and Nellie (Lawson) Cash.  He was a graduate of Portsmouth High School and attended college in the Washington, DC area. He was a retired chief petty officer in the US Navy, having served in World War II and Korea. He then went to work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard before retiring in the early 1970s.

His will instructed his estate be donated to Portsmouth Rotary Club.

An endowment fund in his name was established with the monies.
