The Charitable Division of the Rotary Club of Portsmouth is an IRS-recognized 501 (c) (3) charity.  We raise funds, and then distribute them in the form of scholarships and specific grants to non-profit agencies, primarily in the Seacoast area of New Hampshire.  With the exception of scholarships, which are given to high school students in our service area, we do not make grants to individuals, but instead make them to other non-profit organizations.   Scholarships are issued jointly to the student and the educational institution the student is, or will be, attending.

If you are interested in applying for a grant, please fill out an application attached.  All grants are reviewed by a committee and then finalized by the board of directors, which is the only entity that can authorize actual fund distribution.  Grants from our Basic Needs Committee go toward food, clothing, shelter, warmth and health.   Grants from our scholarship committee generally go to high school seniors and the college or advanced study program they are about to attend.  The Jeremy Alex Committee administers funds that are aimed at helping younger people make wise, and safe, choices.  The William Cash Committee administers to a series of grants that must have a sponsoring Portsmouth Rotary Club member directly involved in the project or agency.   Grants are also made directly by the club's board of directors, at their discretion and when the request is found to be worthwhile but doesn't necessarily fall under one of these committees.
