The speaker today was Andy Richmond of the Rye Public Library.  His presentation was on the “the changing world of libraries.”  He went through a list of items that are to become obsolete in the next decade.  Among them were the US postal service, analog keys, eyeglasses…just to name a few.

The Rye Public Library offer children’s programs as well presentations from musicians, photographers, inventors, and writers.  All of these programs are open to the public.  Other libraries have adopted seed lending programs and therapy dogs.  At the Rye library they offer kindles, Ipads, and EBooks to test drive.
