Save Crutches from Landfills and Give Mobility to Those in Need!
 
Do you have a set of old crutches taking up space in your basement?
 
Maybe your neighbor has some old canes or walkers that no one is using?
 
Well now you can declutter, recycle and give back all at the same time!
 
Crutches for Africa, a nonprofit 501c3 organization, is an international effort to gather old and new mobility devices for reuse in Africa and other developing countries. These devices are distributed free to people with physical challenges, regardless or race, gender, tribe, age or religion. Many recipients have survived the ravages of polio, although polio is almost completely eradicated; many people are suffering the long-term effects.  Others have experienced accidents or acts of violence. If you don’t have any of the following items, please keep an eye out for us at garage and yard sales, and even in the trash on their way to our landfills. Let’s reuse and recycle! Don’t worry if they are rusted and broken – we’ll take them in any condition!

  • Walkers
  • Wheelchairs
  • Scooters
  • Mobility boots
  • Splints and slings
 
Where to find them – wherever people gather! We’ll have posters soon that you can give out.
 
  • Individuals: ask your neighbors, co-workers, family and friends
  • Ask your church, doctors (especially physical therapists, orthopedics, etc.)
  • Talk to your local retirement homes, rehabilitation facilities
  • Lions Clubs, Boy and Girl Scouts, your local Rotary Club
  • State Fairs, Town Fairs, local gatherings
