Credit Cards come to Portsmouth Rotary

We're pleased to report that the finance committee and board have approved the club's credit card project.  Many of you saw this being tested last week: the new system runs on a simple iPad or iPhone.   The club has acquired an iPad for this purpose, so beginning this week you'll be able to charge your lunch and Rotary dues and donations directly to your major credit or debit card.   Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover are all accepted. 

A couple of requests:

Please be patient with us as we learn the system.  It's easy to run, but we're all volunteers.  Glitches can happen.  Tell us and we'll get it fixed.

For the first couple of weeks, we will only use the system to charge (1) lunches at $17 and (2) your club dues once they have been invoiced.  We'll also have our terminal available at the Golf Tourney for any charges related to that event, and we expect it will greatly improve our customer service at Christmas tree sales in the fall.

Please do not ask for "cash back" or raffle money from the credit card.  We're paying a fee on every transaction, which is absorbed by the club's operating budget.   We can't pay fees for incremental cash, and we're not equipped to do the fund transfers and accounting for the raffle, so bring a pocket full of bills for that please!
